Austria, 2014, lathe-turned oak, MDV coated frame, perforated acrylic glass front, height 96.5 cm, width 119.5 cm, depth 41.5 cm. “/ paper label: „REBLAU“ (DRAX)
A unique object. With a certificate.
The rectangular patterns are based on the proportions of classic modern architecture.
“Classic Modern Façade” is part of the “Better Face” design series and is a hybrid combining an algorithmically generated motif in acrylic glass, a standard furniture corpus, and a traditionally lathe-turned oak base. “Better Face” shows a way of how boring pieces of standardised furniture can be turned into individual objects: plain furniture is ennobled by adding a base and a “Better Face” furniture façade. Thanks to the depth of the perforation, the front changes its appearance on an hourly basis because of the play of light and shadow. “(Regina Blauensteiner)
