the seated lady playing lute, the seated gentleman playing flute, between them sits a pug dog with blue collar, porcelain, polychrome and gilt group, height 15 cm, length 23 cm, some restoration, small firing cracks to the underside, Meissen, blue sword mark on unglazed base, 1st half of 19th cent., model no. W 56, former no. 42, red painter no. 10, model by Johann Joachim Kändler November 1740, after a painting in oils by Balthasar Denner 1740, today in Dresden, Sächsische Staatsoper, also after a pastel painting by Rosalba Carriera 1739, today in Dresden, Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister (Ru)

The pug dog is a sign that the couple were members of the Pug Dog Order;
