Central France, c. 654 x 256 cm, mid-19th century, oversized tapestry with floral central medallions, star symbols and Latin banner with the invocation from the Litany of Loreto: “Queen conceived without original sin – holy mother”, the present tapestry was probably used on the occasion of the Marian feast day on 22 August (Feast of Queenship of Mary) in a liturgical setting, it is trimmed on top and must have once been twice its current size, entirely secured with old linen bands on the back.
