A lady’s robe, China, late 19th cent.
Buttoned to the side. Pastel green silk, colourfully embroidered in satin stitch with butterflies, lotus flowers, peonies, plum blossom, hydrangeas and pumpkins. Collar and border to the hem in black silk, finely embroidered with flowers, butterflies and cranes. Cream-coloured borders to sleeves colourfully embroidered in satin stitch with similar motifs. Some spotting; worn and damaged in part. Lining in blue silk (some spotting). Length: 139 cm; width: 138 cm. (BA)
