In the “Riddled” project, which also comprised designs for a table, a sideboard, and a lamp, the American architect explored the theme of porosity, which also determines many of his famous buildings (Simmons Hall of MIT, MOMA Peking). The extremely thin wood of the containers, bent with the aid of laser technology, appears to be folded in the manner of origami.
