porcelain, model: ‘Weimar vase with antique snakes’, turquoise bodies with fine and wide gilt rims, gilt pinecone finial, gilt-accented acanthus leaf wreath, gilt strings of beads, gilt handles with beads and leaf terminals, shoulders with white arched frieze, light purple grooves, here and to the pedestal gilt-painted mesh of stars, gilt-accented border of chains and acanthus leaves, to the obverse and reverse reserves, within which polychrome-painted lake landscapes with architecture, horsemen, peasants and dogs, encompassed by gilt and purple décor, circular knop, foot and plinth, height 51 cm, KPM-Berlin, underglaze blue sceptre and pfennig mark 1849-1870, impress no. 38, III, model circa 1785 (Ru)
Philips Wouwerman, Harlem 1619-1668, Dutch painter, influenced by Frans Hals, painted, amongst other things, horsemen, martial and encampment scenes and a grey horse.
