The portrait is from the family estate of Vojtěch Mastný, one of the most important lawyers and diplomats during the First Czechoslovak Republic. Zdena Mastná was Vojtěch Mastný’s wife. At the time of his mission in Rome (1925 - 1932), he was friendly with the sculptor of Czech origin Helena Železná, who created the sculpture and donated it to the ambassador’s family.
