“Chippensteel” is one of the first products designed by Oskar Zieta. It is the first manifestation of an interior design object for which FiDU technology was used, made of one element, which during the process of deformation took the shape of a multidimensional chair. The unique feature of this chair is the nature of the material of which it is made. The use of clean, untreated copper has made the chair a living being that reacts with the surroundings and grows old, revealing the beauty of time and maturing to its full appearance. Each fingerprint and touch has transformed the surface into a work of art, exposing history, time and experience. The first “Chippensteel” was presented in 2008. Since then, he has been published in books such as The Making of Design: From the First Model to the Final Product and Materialrevolution: Nachhaltige und multifunktionale Materialien für Design und Architektur.
The complete limited edition of 20 was sold by 2013 “Chippensteel” is a fine example of blending FiDU technology and craftsmanship. The two-dimensional form, cut from sheet metal and going through welding and inflating processes, becomes a three-dimensional functional chair. The finishing touch by a designer and craftsman gives it its ultimate beauty.
