French Japonism, period circa 1900. An ebonised and partly carved hardwood screen, with panels veneered in bird’s eye maple, with relief lacquer work in the form of various types of bird with glass eyes, together with stylised landscape scenes with bamboo, flowers, ships and volcanoes. H: 126 cm, the upper panel being loose, W: 69 cm. In cared-for condition, the frame somewhat warped. (PZ)
