silver, of round form, the centre chased with a depiction of a pack of hounds fighting a wolf (raised in relief at a later date), a landscape scene, the rim chased with oak leaves, the rim banded with tongue designs, Ø 52 cm, weight: 4214 g, maker’s mark LA = Paul de Lamerier, London hallmark 1727/28, (Lu)
With splendid chased décor of ca. 1809, possibly by William Pitts for Rundell, Bridge & Rundell. The above sideboard dish is depicted & described in John Culme, The Directory of Gold & Silversmiths, Vol. 1, Antique Collectors Club, Fig. 13. Provenance: Sotheby’s Auction, 17th July 1986, cat. 292.
