Saudi Arabia: A curved dagger, also known as ‘Wahabite Jambiya’, with sheath and rich silver décor. - Arte Tribale

A typical Arabian ‘Wahabite Jambiya’ (curved dagger or shortsword), with slightly curved, double-edged blade. With a middle ridge partly engraved with curvilinear patterns.
The hilt is made of dark horn and decorated with high-quality silver: decorated with six roses covered in strikingly large hemispheres, and with bands with motifs of knops, triangles and circles. The upper section of the wooden sheath is also covered in quality silver. Embellished with a décor of lines, dots and triangles, followed by a wrap of twisted brass wire. The lower section of the sheath is entirely enveloped in sheet brass with a geometric engraving still on the front side of the sheath. An old leather belt is attached to the sheath by means of an iron buckle.
An unusual, beautiful piece. Only minor age-related damage.
Between the 19th and the early 20th centuries; L: 51 cm (in total). (ME)
