Syria, Aleppo: A lady’s robe with dark red foundation and fine geometric décor of woven silver threads.
A short lady’s robe in the style of old traditional costumes from Aleppo (North Syria). Made of two stitched pieces of dark red cotton, with short sleeves attached to it. With fine geometric, woven décor surfaces (insert-weaving) made of silver threads and polychrome silk (black, blue, purple, green and brown). Trimmed with gold-coloured borders and lined with red-and-white striped industrial fabric.
Minor age damage. Rare!
First half of the 20th century; L: 86 cm, W: 92 cm (with sleeves). (ME)
