A so-called ‘Ikula knife’ of the Kuba, a kingdom as well as a federation of about 20 tribes in southern Congo. The present ceremonial and prestige weapon exemplifies the ‘classical’ form. With a wide, slightly curved, symmetrical and double-edged copper blade (rare!), middle ridge on both sides and a fine décor of curved ornamental lines. The hilt is made of wood, in typical form, and dyed black.
In very good condition, only minor age damage to the hilt.
