Mongo, Konda et al., Dem. Rep. of Congo: A ceremonial and prestige sword with a hilt in the shape of a female half figure.
A typical prestige and ornamental shortsword of the Mongo tribes (Konda, Sengele, Kundu and others) in central Congo. The double-edged iron blade is forged with imaginative geometric forms, lateral rings and recesses, and engraved on the middle surface. The hilt is made of wood and carved in the shape of a female half figure.
An extraordinary piece with good usage patina and only minor age damage (small pieces broken off on the hilt, the blade slightly rusty as a result of improper storage).
