- the Alenax TRB 250 continues the tradition of alternative motion
- so-called transbars driving a chain
- sprockets are mounted to the left and right of the rear wheel hub
- the system offers various gears
- not truely efficient due to the mechanism's 'dead centres'
- in 1880 the Star 'penny-far thing' worked on the same principle
- In 1893 the Swedish firm Svea unveiled similar concept
- As well as Terrot in France with the Levocyclette in 1900
- In 1920 the Jaray recumbent bicycle was also moved by a lever drive
