A “Clam” armchair, designed by Philip Arctander,
1944, manufactured in the late 1940s for Nordisk Staal & Mobel Central, Copenhagen, dark stained and polished birch, Nordic lambskin (replaced), height 90 cm, width 63 cm, depth 85 cm, height of seat 40 cm. (DRAX)
This model, also refered to us as “Muslingestolen”, had erroneously been attributed to Martin Olsen for a while. However, it was designed by the Danish architect Philip Arctander for the opening of the NY FORM A/S in Copenhagen in 1944. The company had commissioned six architects to supply their designs. Arctander was one of them. >
