Tsukdruck tiger carpet,
Tibet, c. 130 x 78 cm, beginning of the 20th century, tsukdruk carpets represent one of the earliest forms of pile weaving according to a technique that is similar to the loop and cut system, the present rare specimen with thick, deep wool is woven in three connected narrow stripes and executed on a back-strap loom, the rare tiger pattern indicates that this item was a ritual object destined for a high-ranking Tibetan lama, in superb condition.
