Uzbekistan, c. 226 x 160 cm, mid-19th century, silk embroidery from the Kermina region, made of four beige linen panels, showpiece cloths such as the present one were an important part of the dowry and were used in the bridal room as a hanging or bed throw, the borders are made of silk embroidered blossoms and spear leaves, with an eight-pointed medallion at the centre, surrounded by flowering shrubs, gracefully executed details with birds and vases decorate the present Suzani with mixed media embroidery, backed with linen, wholly complete, signs of age and wear with some flaws as well as signs of wear in the pattern.
