Central Persia (Iran), c. 203 x 138 cm, dated 1918, pictorial carpet with a border of famous personalities and alternating inscribed cartouches, the background displays a dominant beige prayer field, at the centre a portrait of the king of the Qajar dynasty ‘Fath Ali Shah’ (1797 - 1834) in lavish robes and with a characteristic full beard, the edge of the head flanked by ‘Homay Homa’ and ‘Keykhosrow’, magnificently preserved in full pile and finely knotted pattern, both ends with preserved woven finishes.
