Ninghsia foliate dragon sitting rug,
West China, c. 79 x 81 cm, beginning of the 18th century, rare, old rose rug from the Emperor Kanxi Period (1662–1722) with two foliate dragons embedded in an elegant disc medallion, surrounded by four peony blossoms in pastel shades, against which the dominant and archaic three-dimensional tendril-shaped corner spandrels stick out, the blue parts of the pattern display full pile, in the pink sections traces of age and corrosion.
