Spain or Portugal?, c. 43 (59) x 43 (55) cm, beginning of the 15th century, ‘Stations of the Cross’ in silk appliqué embroidery with silver gossamer (flattened wire wound around cotton) on cotton satin, wholly complete with silk decorative fringe, the silver heavily oxidised as well as strong signs of wear in the pattern, mounted on patterned half-silk textile, in a gilt wooden frame of a later date, behind glass.
