porcelain, cobalt blue body with wide, fine gilt rims, neck and foot with gilt leaf tendrils and floral stems, gilt foliate friezes, to obverse medallions with polychrome-painted portrait busts, Louis XVI with the Grand Cross of the Order of the Holy Spirit (Ordre du Saint Esprit), to one side, signed H. Poitevin, encompassed by rich gilt leaf rocailles and garland of flowers, verso gilt ligated monogram surmounted by a crown flanked by palm fronds, aperture with yellow metal lid, handle with sculptural acanthus leaves and wreathes with beaded friezes, circular foot with laurel wreath, octagonal plinth with décor in relief, height 60 cm, Sèvres, France, apocryphal mark, late 19th cent.
