An incense stick holder in the form of a lady
China, Ming dynasty or earlier, 13th-15th century. Parcel-gilt, chased bronze, single-piece hollow cast. Standing in a charming posture, her hair piled high in an artistic top-knot, the lady holds a ruyi-head in her right hand, behind which is the incense stick holder; her left hand is hidden in her wide, dangling sleeves. A shawl and large bow swirl around her delicate figure and terminate finely sweeping at the hem of her garment. A few tiny holes and traces of corrosion. Height: 14.7 cm. Wooden base. (BA)
