A champlevé enamel jardinière
China, Qing dynasty, 18th century. Gilded. To the side walls two dragons chasing a pearl in clouds in repoussé work set in cartouches on a dark blue ground, to each end wall a dragon seen frontally surrounded by clouds. Each framed by foliate tendrils on a turquoise-coloured ground. Engraved foliate tendrils to feet and rim of the jardinière. Traces of corrosion. Height: 10.6 cm; length: 25.3 cm. Set into a pierced, carved wooden base (damaged). (BA)
