Tapestry,
Brussels (Netherlands), c. 330 x 315 cm, mid-16th century, although the brightness of the colours has slightly waned through the centuries, the present tapestry is still in excellent overall condition, wholly complete without any major repairs (restored in 2008 by Chevalier, Paris), mounted on linen, the magnificent main border divided into numerous scenes with narrow grotesque secondary borders suggests an attribution to the circle of Franz Geubel’s studio, around that time the monumentality of the figures in tapestries decreased whilst decorative ornaments were intensified.
