Northeast China, c. 238 x 154 cm, 19th century, a floral central medallion with a meander border on a background brocaded with metal threads, main border with bats and several symbols of good fortune, the inscription on the upper front states that the carpet was intended for the "NuanGe" vestibule or “Hall of Mental Cultivation" in the Forbidden City, where the emperor discussed affairs of the state with his mandarins, both original endweaves are preserved, embedded metal threads oxidised, fringe damage.
