Central Anatolian kilim panel,
Turkey, c. 442 x 91 cm, around 1800, half of a double-niche kilim in slit technique with contour wefts from the Karapinar region, originally produced in two panels, only a few are entirely preserved with their two original parts - as these were often separated within families and in mosques, overall the existing panel has a beautiful age patina and a rare, completely preserved aubergine colour, the seven niches in alternating colours are separated by a border up to the kilim ends, with some flaws, open warp slits and tears, mounted on linen and preserved.
