A round Indo-Persian shield made of iron (or steel). The front side is black-dyed (with niello technique?) and rich with all-round zig-zag lines, bands, as well as leaf and floral tendrils in large volutes and very tight decorated surfaces, extremely finely damascened with silver and bronze (in Indian koftgari technique). With four small, mounted shield bosses with identical decorations.
A blue cushion is attached to the backside as protection for the hand, as well as four bronze rings to fasten a leather grip (missing). Good condition, no damage. 19th century or earlier; DM: 28 cm. (ME)
