Mixed lot (2 items): Mauritania: A pair of bangles made of silver alloy, richly decorated.
A pair of old bangles in typical Mauritanian form. With hemispherical ends and each with five ‘sectors’ (the five ‘Pillars of Islam’). Made of weak silver alloy executed in ‘waste mould’ casting, and each with four circle-dot symbols (as protection against the ‘evil eye’), engraved with rich lines and dotted decorations. DM: each 8 cm x 9 cm. (ME)
