Coenen, Leendert van der Cooghen, thesis, Amsterdam, 1996, cat. T. C.24 (not ascribed to van der Cooghen).
The present drawing shows the same figure, however from a different point of view, as it appears in a red chalk drawing by Dirk Helmbreker in the British Museum (Inv.1895.9.15.1177; Compare A. M. Hind, Catalogue of Drawings by Dutch and Flemish Artists in the British Museum, Bd. III, London 1926m p. 112, No.1). Both drawings could have been executed at the same occasion. However, there is no hint that the represented figures are identical with the artist Dirk Helmbreker as was assumed for a long time.
