Provenance: Collector’s mark Wolfhart F. Bürgi (Lugt 3400) on the recto.
The attribution of the present two drawings was confirmed in a letter by by Clémentine Gustin-Gomez on Jan., 2014. She links the study for "Minerva and Arachne" with another sketch of the same theme (Gustin-Gomez 2006, Bd. 2, S. 234). The two nude studies on the revrse are comparable in the pose of the figures with an “Adoration of the Shepherds in the Pushkin Museum in Moskau, Inv. 967 (Gustin-Gomez 2006, Vol. 2, P. 130, pp. 91-92).
