Southeast Caucasus, c. 283 x 103 cm, dated 1866, one of the most beautiful and oldest Chayly carpets known today from the Moghan region, as was typical only of early pieces it displays fine knotting and a low knotted pile in a fashion comparable to the Shirvans, original ends, side edges repaired, good pile condition for its age with heavily corroded brown and cochineal-coloured parts of the pattern, the white, finely drawn eagle border is populated by guard animals incorporated in the pattern.
