“The Rape of Helena”, Netherlands, c. 297 x 274 cm, late 17th century, silk and wool weaving in fragmentary condition, however the most important scene is preserved and this piece is accompanied by a very appealing border frame, the carpet is trimmed on all sides and was larger and longer in its original size, many repaired parts of the pattern with replaced galloon, partly damaged with exposed warp threads, underside lined entirely with linen on the reverse.
