Dagestan (Northeast Caucasus), c. 291 x 230 cm, end of the 19th century, the technique of the winding pattern weft is very popular in the Caucasus and permits the production of resilient flatweaves, this specimen is an exceptionally well made piece with three blue medallions at the centre of the field accompanied by yellow octagons, large border frame with a plethora of Caucasian repeat patterns, slight signs of wear, both ends cut short.
