A relatively large ‘Ibeji’ twin figure made of wood (for a more detailed explanation see cat. no. 51). A male figure with a ‘hunter cap’ on its head (coloured with ‘laundry blue’). Covered with an apron and standing on a thin, round base plate. The hands are carved in the shape of rings and lined to the body on both sides. Face and body are red coloured (rubbed with powdered redwood). Four ornamental chains in total, made of small and large glass pearls. This figure displays a very good, old usage patina and minor age damage (minor tears). Style: Abeokuta, Southwest Nigeria. First half of the 20th century; H: 27 cm. (ME)
