South Caucasus, approx. 245 x 128 cm, first half of the 19th century, on sürmey blue background are four medallion-like eight-pointed stars, flanked by typical dragon and bird pairs, on the grounds of its particularly vivid colours and archaic patterns with diversely executed Kotshanak border elements, the primitive patterns of the stars and the use of cochineal, the carpet must be dated to a very early period, good pile condition with only a few slightly low parts, three sewn tears in the lower third, lower right corner replaced, minor repairs, both ends reduced.
