A very early musical Gope or UMUNU VIKI BULL-ROARER, Papuan Gulf.
As very sacred objects, these whistle boards were called Imunu Viki, literally spirits weeping. They were kept hidden and only used by the highest members of secret societies when a chief died. 55 cm high.
