Vladimíra Klumparová studied at the Glassmaking Secondary Professional School in Železný Brod, then in prof. Libenský’s studio at the AAAD in Prague, graduating in 1981. Shortly after she graduated she traveled to the USA, where she married glass artist Michael Pavlik. Together they established glass studio where she experimented with fused glass. Later she was wrapping glass into gypsum or covered by foils.
Her frequent trips to Mexico, where she has a home, had a large impact on her work. She currently splits her time between the Czech Republic, the USA, and Mexico. Her experiences from all of the places where she spends her time are absorbed into her work, and thanks to this it is open as well as accessible. In her fused sculptures, which are often monumental, geometric and organic morphology blend together, creating an inimitable synthesis. Vladimíra Klumparová’s extensive work is highly regarded in the United States where she spent a great part of her artistic life.
