inscribed "Johann Georg Heiliger in Wienn, 1733-58, 1746 Hofuhrmacher, Kärtnerstraße" (court watch-maker), rectangular brass plate movement, the reverse side with sun engraving, spring driven, clock movement via chain and fusee, power reserve: 1 day, Viennese 4/4 hour striking mechanism on bells, striking mechanism off-switch, repeater function, index for lunar calendar and moon phases, vaulted brass dial, engraved, brass spandrel with engraved silver-plated plaque: 'Stund und Jahr, So viel wir leben, sind zum Tod, schon abgegeben' (Hour or year, however long we live, we are bound to die), engraved silver-plated numeral ring, window for mock pendulum, alteration to lever escapement of earlier date, two-door, polished black fruitwood clock case, 4 glass panels, sound apertures with open-work engraved brass elements, backed with silk, brass feet and finials of later date, 44 cm, Austria, Vienna mid-18th cent., in well-maintained, restored condition, traces of replaced parts- and alterations, no warranty for precision of movement and long-term functioning, 1 pendulum, 1 key, (HP)
