Lit.:
Franca Dietz, Die Sammlung Hassan Sabet, Blühende Zeit der KPM, Die "Weichmalerei" auf Berliner Porzellan, Petersberg 2013, p 238–243, ill., clock case with 2 figures ca. 1900;
p 238 and p 242 identical clock case with same painted decoration, p 241 signed Franz Aulich;

Not least owing to its size and the complexity of its individual parts, this clock represents a technical and artistic pinnacle of porcelain craftsmanship. Extremely difficult and expensive to produce, the clock was repeatedly put on display to demonstrate the Manufactory's capabilities. In 1888, a model of the clock was shown at the "Deutsche Nationale Kunstgewerbe" exhibition in Munich, p 243, 1893 a historical view of the retail space of the KPM-shop. p 243, 1908 historic photograph showing the pendulum hanging from the faun's mouth. In 1904, the clock case was displayed at the St. Louis World Fair.

Only three copies of this large format clock case are thought to exist currently.
