Unusual and rare small patented writing desk,
Italy, mid-18th century. A serpentine desk set on tall legs, with later bronze sabots, partly veneered in rosewood, tulipwood and elm, also marquetry-decorated with panels, birds and plants, with 2 drawers, 4 secret drawers, a sliding compartment, the top with a hinged lid with mirror and a pull-out screen, and 2 additional small drawers at the back. Ca. 70 x 49 x 48 cm. Some ageing and evidence of restoration. ASB (PZ)
