Private Southern European collection
The subject and composition of the present painting can be compared to the earlier works of Meindert Hobbema (1638–1709). Such individual motifs as the path in the foreground and the cottage can be found in a signed work by Hobbema offered for sale in Lucerne on 8 September 1924, lot 141.
