Martin Tardy is half-French and half-Austrian, he grew up in Vienna and Marseille, and as an artist he is a true autodidact! Due to his strong case of dyslexia he was always more open to imagery than written words. From today’s perspective, this alleged disadvantage has become an absolute advantage because his drawings are his ideal form of expression to communicate with his environment. He already started drawing when he was three years old and he has never stopped since then! His current style is shaped by intensive studies of books about anatomy and analyses of different drawing styles. Stylistically, he focuses on figural works, which are mostly based on a single line. One of the specialties of his working method is that he draws asynchronically with both hands at the same time. At this year’s LIFE+SOLIDARITY GALA, he is painting his latest work live, which will be subsequently auctioned off.
