The opera "Wozzeck" by Alban Berg after the uncompleted tragedy "Woyzeck" by Georg Büchner – performance at the National Theatre of Prague in 1926 Vlastislav Hofmann, Czech architect, stage designer, painter and craftsman, based in Prague. Architectural studies at the Technical University of Prague 1902/07. Co-founder (1911) of the Prague artists’ association "Skupina", member of the art grouo "Manes". - crematorium in Moravian-Ostrau; architectural design of the Jirásek Bridge in Prague. Designs of furniture, glass, ceramics, book decorations etc. From 1919 many stage sets for the National Theatre and the Vinohrad Theatre in Prague and for Brno. Illustrations. (30 drawings for the works of Dostoevsky, Prague 1917), lithographs and linocuts (portrait of Walt Whitman; the dying Dostoevsky among others) ... In addition to Prague Hofmann appeared as an exhibitor in the 1918 "Freie Bewegung", a group of German and Austrian artists founded in Vienna which also exhibited in Berlin (1921, Salon Gurlitt), and together with the Prague artists Jos. Capek, V. Spála u. J. Zrzavy (Young Czech group) in 1920 in Berlin (Salon Israel Ber-Neumann). Thieme-Becker, volume XVII and Vollmer, volume II.Provenance: collection of Prof. Dr. Walter Zettl, Vienna (General secretary, Künstlerhaus Vienna, 1953-1960, later director at the Austrian Cultural Institute, Rome) – gift by the artist’s daughter.
