In 1891 the XXth annual Künstlerhaus exhibition records a “Costume study” (see Zemen, Marie Müller, 2003, 111f.) and two further costume studies dated 1891 at the International Art Exhibition. We are grateful to Prof. Dr. Peter Janosi for his assistance in cataloguing this work. Provenance: Dorotheum Vienna, 126th Major Auction, 25 September 1936, lot 555 (with the title “Man in Costume”).
