Two Conjoined Kibitka Bands,
West Turkestan, c. 164 x 66 cm, first half of the 19th century, in their original condition, these luxurious ornamental bands, which were used for lashing the tent rods on the inside of the yurt, were often up to 14m long, in the present lot two large fragments of the same “jolami” (tent band) have been pieced together breadthwise; very archaic, monumental pattern with very good, full pile.
