West Anatolia (Turkey), c. 417 x 293 cm, about 1900, on wool pile and foundation, in coarse knotting with heavily stylised floral pattern made of prime quality soft wool, the present carpet is preserved in used condition with partially low pile, a coin-sized hole and a few darned and sewn areas, newly overcast side edges, recently cleaned.
Note:
In the past few decades, carpets of this type were almost completely bought up by American dealers in Europe and resold at high prices on the modern interior decoration market. As a result, they are hard to come by today.
