The DECHEM studio was founded in Prague in 2012 by Michaela Tomišková and Jakub Janďourek. They studied together at the Glassmaking School in Nový Bor. Michaela Tomišková then continued to study in the Studio of Product Design at the AAAD in Prague. Jakub continued to perfect his skills in the field of lighting, glass processing, technology and production. In the DECHEM studio they focus on product design with a special emphasis on glass. As their default material, they usually use clear glass, generally in combination with white opal or black and smoky glass. Since 2014, DECHEM has been collaborating with the glassmaking company Kavalierglass. A significant part of their work are projects of custom-made lighting and accessories. In 2014, DECHEM studio received the Grand Designer of the Year award from the Academy of Design of the Czech Republic.
