Central Persia (Iran), c. 117 x 82 cm, about 1940, small hand knotted carpet with the portrait of “Nur Ali Shah”, the fish and ducks in the pond symbolise the dervish’s esoteric knowledge, the undeciphered inscriptions in the cartouches along the border are probably a poem containing religious dogmas and rules of etiquette, in good condition, some minor moth damage to the right field corner.
