South Caucasus, c. 398 x 182 cm, end of the 19th century, on the grounds of its format and pattern arrangement an extraordinary hand knotted carpet, manufactured on wool warp, pole diamond medallion on red background with stepped central medallions and yellow shield-like cartouches, parts of the pattern are executed in wool coloured with cochineal (Armenian red), multicoloured silk highlights, good condition with only minimal signs of wear.
